Investment philosophy
The investment philosophy described here is more applicable to our contrarian view about investing in equities. We search for investments based on fundamental financial data, but there is more to making an investment than just numbers, for example:
- Drivers of share prices vary in the short term but not in the long term
- "Winning companies" in the long term will grow cash flow and achieve returns above their cost of capital
- A company's annual report is often an under-rated source of information
- Company management can provide an understanding of:
- business operations
- allocation of capital
- corporate governance
- competitive landscape
- political issues
- macroeconomic issues
